To dig in those wild roots, to be guided by our teachers the herbs, the Earth and the Elements. Healing Trees of Ireland: Sunday 12 November from 1-3:30 at Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism, Boulder, CO. $40 Thirteen trees comprise the ancient Ogham lunar calendar, each offering medicine, myths and folklore. These trees were so important to our ancestors that they brought them with them to the new world and all are common to Colorado as well as Ireland. We will circle the wheel of the year, learning which tree represents each lunar month, its Ogham letter, the medicine for body and spirit of each tree. We will create a hazel cough remedy (using the 4th great Celtic healer, whiskey!) and a hawthorn infused honey. Visit Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism website here for more information.
Friday Night Ritual: Friday November 24 and/ or December 8 from 6-9 PM. $35 each or $60 for both. Central Denver. For years I spent one or two Fridays a month in community, in circle celebrating a Sacred Warrioress through ritual and herbs. I am delighted to be back and to gather with you.
Sacred Season (Advent) Wreath-Making honoring Sacred Warrioress Mother Mary. Friday November 24 from 6-9 PM. Every year I create my own version of a tradition I adore, the Advent Wreath. The wreath has 4 candles, one lit each week through the season leading up to Christmas. I integrate Christian and pre-Christian traditions in this class, weaving in symbolic herbs and trees and lots of candlelight. We will journey through a guided meditation with Mother Mary, who I connect with both within and outside the Christian mythology. We set intention for each week and you will be invigorated to connect deeply to this sacred season.
Spiraling to Stillness honoring Sacred Warrioress Brighid of Kildare. Friday December 8 from 6-9 PM. Brighid, Irish Goddess and saint, is a timeless warrioress who shares her wisdom with us and urges us to join in community, to build community. We will celebrate her triple Goddess aspects of healing, creativity and poetry. We will journey with her in meditation. We will learn about the Herbal Book of Hours, an ancient monastic tradition I created for today’s times and honoring Brighid’s aspect as one of the patron saints of Ireland. We will create herbal potions to celebrate stillness within the days of this sacred season.
