Botanica is from a Latin root, from which most of the English language is derived. The class name mimics our ancient (and Native European-created) botanical naming system based on a genus (family name/ Botanica) and species (specific plant or in this case class: magica or erotica). We are in no way claiming any links or connection to the name of Mexican shops that sell herbs, which is a totally different context.
The Way of Brighid Day Retreat: Saturday February 3 from 10-4 PM. $75. Gather in circle to celebrate Brighid, Irish goddess and saint, and her festival/ feast day and the season of Imbolc. We will weave through the elements of Air, Fire, Water and Earth, acknowledging Brighid in each of the directions as we receive her timeless wisdom and wild connection to the herbs. We will engage with the energies of springtime, awakening inspiration and moving from the dreamtime of winter into the active engagement of spring. We will create a Brighid’s cross, poetry, healing cloths and a herbal potion or two.
Seasonal Herbs and Rituals for Imbolc, Springtime: Sunday Feb 4 from 2-4:30 PM. $40. Embrace the turning of the wheel as we spiral outward, welcoming springtime, known as Imbolc in the ancient Irish calendar. The season of Imbolc begins on Brighid’s Day, February 1. Brighid was a herbalist, goddess and saint in Ireland and we will deepen into our knowing of her favorite herbs: dandelion, Lady’s Mantle and blackberry as well as discover herbs to connect with for optimal nourishment as we live and make medicine with the season.
